Web-based Flood Inundation Modeling with DSS-WISE Web: A Short Course on Recent Updates with Hands-On Training Sponsored by FEMA

When: Thursday, September 25 ⋅ 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Registration Fee: $75. Registration includes a continental breakfast and all course materials.

Launched in 2016, the National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering (NCCHE) at the University of Mississippi has been developing and operating the Decision Support System for Water Infrastructural Security (DSS-WISE) Web. Through this free web-based tool, more than 2,360 dam safety professionals have submitted over 93,150 dam-break flood inundation modeling scenarios from across the United States and Puerto Rico. Over the years, researchers at NCCHE have produced numerous developments and improvements to the system to increase the capability, ease of use, and speed for its users. The team is currently developing a diverse set of enhancements that will empower users to model even more types of scenarios quickly and easily. To help new and existing users understand these capabilities and receive the maximum benefits from the system, and to receive feedback about the status and plans for the new updates, a half-day short course will be presented as a conference specialty workshop.
