HINCKLEY DAM
When: Thursday, September 25 • 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Registration Fee: $125
The Hinckley Dam Field Trip is a half-day trip that will start with a brief overview at the convention center, then depart at 9:30 and return at an estimated time of 1 pm. The registration fee includes transportation to and from the convention center. All participants are required to ride the bus to and from the site.
The Hinckley Lake Dam Rehabilitation Project has modernized a 100-year-old dam utilizing the construction manager at risk delivery model and 100% local funds. The $12M project involves the reconstruction of a 150' concrete spillway and the raising of 900' of earthen embankment. The multi-year project will be completed in time for the 2026 swim season, with dredging of the southern portion of the lake occurring in the summer of 2025.
Attendees will be provided a tour of the recently completed spillway, followed by an optional 20-minute 0.8-mile walk to the Hinckley Lake Boathouse on a paved trail with approximately 40 feet of elevation gain. Busing will be provided to those interested between stops. At the boathouse, all attendees will get a glimpse of the dredging operations taking place at the south end of the lake.
