Michael Bennett, P.E., is a geotechnical PhD student at Virginia Tech. Prior to returning to school, Michael spent 6 years in practice, most recently for GFT (formerly Gannett Fleming), and primarily worked on highway, rail, and water treatment infrastructure projects. Michael also recently completed a term on the Board of the Delaware Valley Geo-Institute. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering and BA in History from Lafayette College and an MS in Civil Engineering (geotechnical focus) from Virginia Tech. Outside of work, Michael writes the ASCE Geo-Institute’s blog on geotechnical history and enjoys reading and hiking.
