Registered Professional Engineer (MD)
Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering- Water Resources, from the University of Maryland (College Park), May 1983
Nearly 30 years of service with the USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service, serving largely as a Hydraulic Engineer. Duty stations include College Park,MD, Lanham, MD, Somerset, NJ, Ft. Worth, TX, Romney, WV, Annapoilis, MD, Casper, WY, Bozeman, MT, and Harrisburg, PA.
He has worked on an array of projects and developed tools to aid the hydrologic analysis of watersheds for various concerns. Examples include a wildfire hydrology tool, an ag-waste runoff control analysis tool, and a series of four curves designed to replace and refine the description of the previously used single curve for analysis of shallow concentrated flow for unpaved areas within the analysis to determine the design time of concentration for a watershed.
Mr. Cerrelli has continued his service post-retirement to the agency by working as a contractor with the ACES program. He has provided service in the development of dam rehabilitation assessment reports for about 80 agency dams in Pennsylvania. His current focus, with the national staff, has him providing review of agency engineering manuals and computer models related to hydrologic analysis. He has been instrumental in delivery of hydrology training, with a strong focus on the Win TR20 computer program. One key area that he has highlighted is analysis related to calibration of the model to identify the values of key input parameters to produce computer results that most closely match natural events.
