Dam Safety Engineer

Natalie Orbesen is the Program Manager for the Oklahoma Water Resources Board’s Dam Safety Program, where she has spent the last five years working to protect lives, property, and infrastructure across the state. She hold a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Resource Engineering from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, along with Professional Engineer (PE) and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certifications. For the past year, she has led the program with enthusiasm and purpose, overseeing dam safety efforts for more than 4,700 jurisdictional-size dams. Her work includes guiding dam owners, reviewing deisgn plans and Emergency Action Plans, promoting dam safety awarness, and securing grants to support critical dam projects. Passionate about resilient infrastructure and fostering strong collaboration, Natalie is dedicated to helping communities stay safe through innovative water infrastructure management.
