Whit Montague, PE, CFM, is the Engineer Supervisor for Dam Safety and Floodplain Management at the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. In this role, Montague oversees the dam safety and levee programs, the National Flood Insurance Program, the flood risk analysis group, and the flood mitigation program for the state. The Dam Safety section is responsible for regulation and supervision of 416 non-federal dams, ensuring inspections are conducted, technical outreach and education is provided to dam owners, and partnering with other state and federal agencies to protect life and property.
A civil engineer, Whit is an experienced environmental professional with a thirty-year background in water quality and quantity management, dam safety, low impact design, and environmental nonprofit management. Her focus is on protection of Arkansas's natural resources and the communities that depend upon them. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, she now lives in Little Rock with her husband David, their child Mace, and their rescue Maltese Ethan.
