Dr. Findlay obtained his B.S.C.E., M.S.C.E, and Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of New Hampshire. Craig’s 48 years in the dam safety, water resources and geotechnical engineering profession includes a broad variety of consulting and project engineering experience, more than 40 years of which have included involvement with dams and hydroelectric projects. He is a registered or licensed Professional Engineer in thirteen states, and a licensed Geotechnical Engineer in California. For the last 27 years, he has been self employed as an independent consultant in dam safety engineering, serving on Boards of Consultants, making inspections and conducting dam stability analyses for numerous utility and government dam owners. Over the course of his career, he has served as technical lead or lead geotechnical engineer on hundreds of dam related projects involving greenfield development, rehabilitation, and/or dam safety assessments. Dr. Findlay has been a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved Independent Consultant for the last 31 years, performing FERC Part 12D inspections for more than 300 dams. He was editor of the Association of State Dam Safety Official’s Dam Safety Journal for several years. Craig has presented and/or published several technical papers on seismic analysis of dams and rehabilitation, dam seepage, dam remediation, dam stability, reservoir erosion and in situ soil property measurement for technical societies including USCOLD, ASDSO, ASCE, the Canadian Geotechnical Society, American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the Transportation Research Board.
