Tony Simmonds is the President of Re-Monitor, the US subsidiary of NHAZCA, a company from Rome, Italy, specializing in remote monitoring solutions.
He graduated from the University of Portsmouth (UK) in 1979 with an honours degree in Engineering Geology and Geotechnics. He began his career at Strainstall Enginering in the UK, before moving to the US, in 1981, to join IRAD Gage.
In 1983 he joined Geokon Inc (USA) a manufacturer of Geotechnical and Structural Monitoring Instrumenatation, where he worked for almost 40 years before retiring as Executive Vice President in 2024.
After a short sabbatical, Tony joined NHAZCA and helped establish their US subsidiary, Re-Monitor in New York, NY., and with whom he works today.
Tony is a Lifetime Member American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the US Nominated Member for the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE).
He is an invited speaker at the International Courses on Geotechnical and Structural Monitoring, and the author of more than 20 technical papers.
Some of the notable projects around the world on which Tony has worked include the Three Gorges Dam (China), the Itaipu Dam (Brazil | Paraguay), the Petronas Twin Towers (Malaysia), and the Boston Central Artery Project (USA).
