Kara works for City of Charlotte Storm Water Services in Charlotte, NC. She serves as the Surface Water Quality Project Coordinator for the Cities Long-Term Stewardship Program. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and has been with the City for eight years. Kara serves as a lead for Storm Waters Dam Safety Program, and oversees inspection, maintenance, and repair for a portfolio of 35 earthen dam embankment projects. She coordinates both annual and storm event inspections, manages high-hazard dam monitoring, oversees drainage infrastructure inspections on dams, and coordinates with NCDEQ Dam Safety on regulatory updates and Notices of Inspections (NOIs). Kara is also currently coordinating the Dam Safety Program comprehensive peer review. In addition, Kara also engages with residents, addressing concerns and educating them about wet ponds and dams in their communities.
