Mr. Bachand is currently serving as a Technical Manager within the Levee Safety Production Center supporting the development of the National Levee Safety Program. Prior to this assignment, Mr. Bachand was the Chief of the Geotechnical/Water Resources Branch in the New England District. Mr. Michael Bachand began working for the New England District (NAE) in May 2012 as the district’s Levee Safety Program Manager (LSPM). While at the New England District, he served at the LSPM from 2012 to 2018 during which time he was responsible for overseeing the administration of USACE’s Levee Safety Program polices for over 60 levee systems in New England. Mike also did a 4-month developmental assignment as the Deputy Chief of Engineering and Construction Division at the Norfolk District as part of the Executive Leadership Development Program. During the Norfolk assignment, Mike spent a considerable amount of time in construction and was able to work on multiple construction projects part of the Arlington National Cemetery expansion. In January of 2018, Mike was selected as the Chief of the Geotechnical Water Resources Branch.
Prior to NAE, Mike spent approximately 13 years working in private industry for a consulting engineering company called CDM Smith. Mr. Bachand started out his professional career working for CDM Smith in 1999, in Cambridge and served as a geotechnical engineer.
