Mia Kannik is a registered professional engineer with Ohio’s Dam Safety Engineering Program. She specializes in geotechnical aspects of embankment dams. She reviews detailed geotechnical investigations, plans, and specifications for construction of proposed dams and for repair of existing dams. She performs field inspections of construction projects to ensure that work is in compliance with approved plans and specifications. She has performed numerous dam safety inspections and coordinates remedial work with owners and their engineers. She also provides training to engineering staff on geotechnical issues. She received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1996 and a master’s
degree in geotechnical engineering from Virginia Tech University in December of 1997. Mia joined the Board of Directors in 2019 as a Midwest Regional Representative. She has also served as the Ohio State Representative since that time.
