Beca is a graduate of Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Beca originally started her career in Commercial Architecture before later returning to school for additional degrees in Geology and a Masters of Earth Science. She worked as a consulting Geologist for almost 7 years before she started her career with the City of Charlotte Storm Water Services. In 2020, she began building the Long-Term Stewardship Program for Storm Water Services from the ground up. Her program now has four staff and manages the long-term maintenance of city owned natural resource assets which include, dams and ponds, streams, and stormwater control measures.
She oversees Storm Waters Dam Safety team and intiatives which includes storm preparedness, emergency action plans, dam inspections and monitoring, restoration and maintenance, engineering and geotechnical evaluations, and emergency and risk management. She also serves as a committee member on the ASDSO Dam Owner Committee and stays very involved in local emergency management coordination related to Dam Safety.
