Jacob E. Bench, PE, CFM

Natural Resources Engineer

Mr. Bench works for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) providing engineering expertise to the Floodplain Management Program since 2022. He previously worked for the ODNR Division of Engineering for four years managing dam, canal, historical, and emergency engineering projects. Prior to coming to ODNR, he worked five years as a consulting engineer at Michael Baker International on a variety of heavy civil and infrastructure projects.

Mr. Bench is a Structure Specialist on the FEMA Urban Search & Rescue Team Ohio Task Force 1 (OH-TF1). In 2021, Mr. Bench deployed to the Champlain Towers South Collapse in Surfside, Florida where he provided engineering expertise to fellow rescue personnel on the collapse pile during rescue and recovery operations.

Mr. Bench is a registered Professional Engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio State University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio University.
